Royal visit to Breda
From 11 October 2025, Breda will be dedicated to two historical figures who shaped the city and the country: René of Chalon and William of Orange.
At the Grote Kerk Breda, the exhibition René! I’m Still Standing. is opening. By the impressive tomb of René of Chalon, which is brought to the Grote Kerk Breda especially for the exhibition, you will discover artworks from twelve (inter)national creators.
At the Stedelijk Museum Breda, Willem – The Price of Freedom. This unique collaboration with Museum Prinsenhof Delft tells the complete story of William of Orange: from his youth in Breda to his tragic death in Delft.
At the Castle Square, you can see the exhibition History Rhymes. The exhibition connects the past and present in a surprising way. Eight artworks, specially created for this project, bring the lives and legacy of René of Chalon and William of Orange to life. Not by simply looking back, but by linking their stories to the questions and themes of today.
