Stadspark Valkenberg

Park Valkenberg is the green oasis in the Breda city centre. A park with royal allure where, until the early nineteenth century, only the castle residents and their guests were welcome. This beautiful city park connects Breda station with the city centre.

Park Valkenburg was originally a real forest with tall trees and falcon enclosures. The castle dwellers used them for hunting, hence the name. Hendrik III and his wife had a modern Italian garden laid out here. Later, it became a park in French style, with flower beds and statues. It was still only accessible to the castle inhabitants and their guests.

Nowadays, the park is open to everyone and is a wonderful meeting place. People have picnics, walk, play, and chat. In the park, you will find various artworks and can settle on the terrace of the T-House. On King's Day and during festivals such as Parkies and Breda Barst, it seems that all of Breda gathers here.

A lovely picnic atmosphere with a relaxed vibe can be found here. We completely immersed ourselves in the tranquility and the beautiful greenery. Later, we sought out the lively hustle and bustle at the T-house and enjoyed some drinks.
