If you don't know Breda, you might almost think that you've had enough at the end of Ginnekenstraat. But nothing could be further from the truth, because that is where Oranje Zuid begins!
A vibrant district with a very distinctive character. No chain stores but a mix of beautiful specialty shops and welcoming hospitality venues.
Oranje Zuid runs from Van Coothplein, via Nieuwe Ginnekenstraat and Wilhelminstraat up to the first part of Ginnekenweg.
Passage Zuidpoort
When you enter Nieuwe Ginnekenstraat from Van Coothplein, don't overlook Passage Zuidpoort on the left side. An authentic passage from the 1930s with paintings by the Breda painter Jan Strube.

We suggest a few nice shops for you, but you really should go and see for yourself. There is so much more to discover.
At the junction of Wilhelminastraat and Ginnekenweg stands a remarkable eye-catcher: the Queens. This 8.5 meter-high artwork by visual artist Tom Claassen consists of an antique lamppost on which two gold-colored lionesses rest. They symbolize Queen Beatrix and Queen Maxima.
The artwork was unveiled in 2016 and was made possible thanks to contributions from the Mondriaan Fund, the municipality of Breda, and entrepreneurs from Oranje Zuid.
Orange Zuid offers plenty to enjoy a day of good shopping. Then a place where you can enjoy a nice lunch is more than welcome.
