King's Day is coming up and that can only mean one thing: celebration! On Monday, 27 April, Breda will once again be all about orange cheerfulness. Throughout the city, you'll find lively flea markets, festivals, and countless activities. So, dust off your finest orange outfit, because King's Day 2026 promises to be a day not to miss!

Ceremonial King's Day Kick-off

During the Extraordinary Flag Parade at the KMA, the commander of the NLDA, in the presence of the Mayor of Breda, conducts the parade inspection with the cadets. This is carried out according to military ceremonial protocol. Would you like to be there? Then come to the KMA between 09:00 and 09:20 with a valid ID! The ceremony begins at 09:45.

Afterwards, there will be music and coffee with some treats for all attendees. 

Queen Wilhelmina Pavilion opened
Would you like to learn more about the history of Breda Castle and its inhabitants? The exhibition in the Queen Wilhelmina Pavilion on the Castle Square is additionally open from 11:00 to 14:00.


Flea Markets: From Hidden Gems to Bargain Hunting

In the city center

Koningsdag is not complete without a lively vrijmarkt! Whether you're searching for hidden gems, unique handmade items, or just want to soak up the atmosphere, Breda is the place to be. 

Children's Free Market at Valkenbergpark (11:00 - 17:00)

In the charming Valkenbergpark, young entrepreneurs can lay out their stalls and sell various items. From toys to books and perhaps even homemade creations, here you'll find great finds and support small traders. 

Hobby Market & Model Building at Castle Square (11:00 - 17:00)

Discover a world of creativity at the Hobby Market on Castle Square. Be surprised by beautiful artworks and handcrafted crafts, and maybe you'll even be inspired to try something new yourself. In addition to creative hobbies, there's also space for charities eager to share their work and impact with you.

Outside the city center

Vrijmarkt STEK, Pier15 and Belcrum Beach (10:00 - 17:00)

There is also plenty to do at the Havenkwartier this weekend. STEK, Pier15, and Belcrum Beach are joining forces for a flea market. In addition to the creative market, you can enjoy music by Rumba Tropicale, a drink, and a snack. 

Heksenwiel

At the Heksenwiel shopping centre, there is also a flea market every year. Sell your own items here or hunt for unique finds. It will also be a lively day with many stalls, dancing, and live music.

538 Koningsdag

For several years now, the biggest event in the Netherlands: 538 Koningsdag! As every year, the biggest national and international artists come to the Chasséveld.

PLOEGENDIENST Kingsnight Special

During this Kingsnight Special, Chris Stussy, Rossi, Luuk van Dijk, Locklead, Morgan, and many others will storm the old beet silo covered in graffiti on the former CSM site. A gigantic 360º main stage will rise, and a second stage for local talent will not be missing.

King's Night at Pier15

Looking forward to a King's Night that's just a little different? At Pier15, you'll experience an unconventional sound compared to the rest of the city. Think live music, bands, and punk.

Princenhage
Every year on King's Day, Stichting Evenementen Princenhage celebrates our King's birthday together with all children and parents. The Orange Committee is ready with fun games at the Dorpswei, and in the afternoon, there are poffertjes and ice creams followed by a drinks gathering and music at the Haagsemarkt.

Ulvenhout 
In Ulvenhout, a variety of activities are organised during King's Day. There is a mini flea market, a decorated bike parade, and the Kinderspelen are held. There is also an Orange lottery and a Jeu de Boules tournament. Curious?

Prinsenbeek
In Prinsenbeek, the annual children's free market is held at the Markt on King's Day. In the afternoon, children can participate in activities such as face painting, smoothie bikes, and a kids' corner with fun games. Meanwhile, all attendees can enjoy musical performances.

Bavel
On King's Day in Bavel, the celebration begins with the kick-off of the Orange Committee at the cultural centre 't Klooster, followed by the free market. Afterwards, the flag is raised, there is a decorated bicycle tour, and kids can participate in the Orange Games. The entire day features musical entertainment, and later in the evening, a free music festival is organised at the Jack van Gilsplein.

Teteringen

In Teteringen, King's Day is all about the children! From 10:00 onwards, there is a cosy flea market at the Willem Alexanderplein, where kids can sell their belongings. Bring your decorated bike, as the most beautiful one wins a nice prize! Additionally, there are fun games and a storm slide to let loose. In short: fun is guaranteed!
