    Discover all those surprising shops, welcoming horeca establishments, and cultural spots. In the historic city centre, the industrial Havenkwartier, and (on the way to) the Ginneken neighbourhood. Tick them off right away or add them to your bucket list for next time.


    Cooling on and around the water

    From the water, Breda looks completely different, so choose a nice day to go out on the water. You can enjoy a boat tour of the canals. But are you a bit more active? Then rent a canoe, motorboat or paddleboard. In Breda, you can even go out on the water with a waterbike!

    Grote Kerk Breda: art and adventure

    The Grote Kerk is undoubtedly the icon of Breda and one of the top monuments of our country. An ancient place, full of stories.

    This summer, there is lots to experience again at the Grote Kerk Breda! Admire the impressive exhibition TRANS-FORM by artist Guido Geelen, where everyday objects are transformed into surprising artworks.

    In the mood for adventure? For children, from small to larger, the Grote Kerk has various treasure hunts and adults can discover the unique building and its stories through an audio tour.

    Summer full of stories at Stedelijk Musejm Breda

    There is plenty to discover at the Stedelijk Museum Breda this summer! In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are no fewer than four temporary exhibitions. 

    Be surprised by the STREET ART MUSEUM from the Blind Walls Gallery. Thirteen talented street artists—including Rob van Dijck, ESPO, Handiedan, and Pink Painter—transform the walls into colourful murals that bring to life the rich, sometimes raw stories of the Boschstraat.
    TIP: on Thursday mornings during the summer holidays, you can join a MINIMURE-making workshop.

    Step into Space Mission and be carried away to the cosmos and colourful art instead of dark black holes. Three artists explore 'the space of the possible'. 

    Discover how interior trends in the 18th century were used to display identity and status, and admire colourful Chinese wallpaper full of cultural symbolism.

    In the permanent exhibition The House of Nassau of Breda you will discover the mini-exhibition 400 Years of the Surrender of Breda, which focuses on the siege and the key transfer to the Spaniards in 1625.

    These festivals you must not miss this summer!

    Breda is buzzing again this summer with festivals! Whether you love swinging jazz, electronic beats, or cozy neighborhood parties, there's something for everyone.

    On 5 and 6 July, Ploegendienst returns to the Galderse Meren with house and techno vibes. And you can score your Sunday tickets now starting at €11.11 — don't miss out! 

    From 15 July, enjoy Brand Parkies every Tuesday evening in Valkenbergpark. A perfect way to spend a summer evening with live music and DJ sets. 

    Also, Duikboot definitely cannot be missing from your festival list! On 30 August, end your summer at the Asterdplas with five different music areas and a creative programme. 

    And that's not all! There are many more parties you really don't want to miss, such as Breda Live, TrailerFest, the Havenfeesten and of course Breda Barst. Make sure you're there and enjoy everything this vibrant city has to offer!

    To discover Breda, you don't always need to bring a well-filled wallet. We searched (and found) all kinds of free outings in Breda.

    We do our utmost to make your visit to Breda as enjoyable as possible. But unfortunately, we can't guarantee good weather. So if the weather isn't on your side, remember that rain is really good for the garden and check out our tips for outings in bad weather. 

    The extraordinary summer of the Chassé Theater

    There are theatres that close their doors at the end of June to reopen in September. The Chassé Theatre does things differently. It's summer, so the Chassé goes outside. With Sunset Cinema, for example, film screenings in surprising locations around the city. Or the Klapstoelcabaret with three nights of comedy at a special venue.

    On the terrace of Vensters, the hospitality hotspot of the Chassé Theatre, you can enjoy a mix of world sounds, snacks and drinks on Saturday evenings. And indoors, both theatre and cinema offer a summer programme.

    Discover the Blind Walls Gallery

    The Blind Walls Gallery is our street museum. More than 130 (!) murals across Breda tell the stories of the city. The artworks have been created by artists from all over the world. You can explore the Blind Walls Gallery independently by bike or on foot, or you can join a guided tour.
