Eating out is still a luxury, of course. The cheapest option is always to cook something tasty at home. But if you don't feel like cooking and want to get out for a while, you're in luck. Breda has plenty of places where you can enjoy a delicious meal without spending a fortune.

  • At Den Boerenstamppot, you can enjoy a hearty Dutch meal for under €20. Perfect if you're craving traditional comfort food.

  • You can also enjoy a tasty meal at a friendly price at Da Attilio, Proeflokaal Bregje, Bruxelles and De Suikerkist.
  • Prefer a great burger or a generously filled toasted sandwich? Then Le Smash and The Tosti Club are definitely worth a visit.

Beer has always played an important role in Breda. Around 1540, there were as many as 38 breweries in the city. There are still breweries to be found in Breda. Beer and Breda go hand in hand. Here are the best places in Breda to enjoy a beer:

  • Brewery Frontaal. Founded in 2015, but already well-known.
  • Bruxelles. They have over 80 Belgian beers here.
  • Big Belly. Three friends from Breda started their own beer brand in 2016.
  • De Beyerd. The local pub of Breda.
  • DOK19. The place to be by the harbour.
  • De Boterhal. Fancy a beer tasting? With over 100 beers in bottles and 25 taps, you’re in the right place.
  • 't Hart. Don’t forget to order the nachos as well.

Going out in Breda

Breda is of course known as a real student city where going out is a lot of fun. Breda has a large number of cafés and restaurants. You definitely want to enjoy this to the fullest, but where should you actually go? Head to Proost, where the Guys from You-know-what can be found on Fridays. And in the evening hours, Proost transforms into a club. Or come to Feestcafé Walkabout, where you can enjoy cocktails, craft beers, and snacks at a good price. Furthermore, Proost, together with Studio Dependance, organizes the Special Beer Night XXL every first Monday of the month.

Storing your coat is always a dreadful trial, as you have to wait forever at the cloakroom. On 1 September 2022, the first city cloakroom Jassie opened at Reigerstraat 11. The cost for a locker is around 5 euro, but that’s always cheaper than a new coat!
