Robin welcomes you to Breda

Robin is 26 years old, has been living on the Tramsingel for two years now, and is studying Communication & Multimedia Design at Avans University of Applied Sciences. Although he has known Breda all his life, the city continues to surprise him. Especially the creative and cultural side has become increasingly familiar to him over the past few years.

Always Something New To Discover

As a born-and-bred Bredanaar, Robin thought he knew the city inside out. However, that wasn't entirely true. "It's only in recent years that I've realised how many cultural and alternative places Breda actually has."

According to him, there are plenty of places where you can just walk in. "There's always something happening at Pier15, Podium Bloos organises great theatre performances, and Dok19 is really a cool place to visit." It’s that variety that makes Breda so enjoyable, Robin says.

Studying in the city

For a productive study day, Robin usually chooses a familiar place. "I often sit in Explora at Avans or in the library in the city centre. There I can always concentrate well."

A lovely spot for coffee

A real hidden gem? Robin doesn't need to think long about that. "At the old monastery in Breda, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee with apple pie. It's also a really lovely place to go, for example, with your parents." According to him, Breda also shows a quieter side of the city.

Embrace the cosiness

Besides studying, Robin considers it important to become part of student life. "Find a community. That really makes your student days more enjoyable."

One of his favourite places is Kamu. "It truly feels like a great community spot. You can work there, meet up, or just relax for a bit."

According to him, student associations can also be a valuable addition. "Take, for example, the students' association Frigo. They organise relaxed parties that you don't even have to be a member of. This way, you can easily meet new people."

Whether you're just starting your studies or have known Breda for longer: Robin believes there’s always something new to discover. From creative hotspots to cosy community venues, the city is full of surprises for those who are open to them.
