This year's annual Accessibility Week will take place from 6 to 12 October. The aim of this themed week is to raise awareness of the importance of accessibility for people with disabilities and to promote the idea that everyone can participate in society.

Breda Equal and the Breda Platform For Everyone have put together a special program for people with disabilities. Below is an overview of the activities  with a link to the page where you can find more information and register. 

Tour of Breda Castle for visually impaired and blind people

A guide from Gilde de Baronie offers a tour of the Breda Castle grounds. The guided tour has been fully adapted for participants with a visual impairment.
A specially made relief map for this tour ensures that the terrain can also be 'felt', allowing participants to get a clear picture of the surroundings.

Low-stimulus dinner at Eetcafé De Peer

For people who are hypersensitive to stimuli, dining out can often be a problem. That is why, during Accessibility Week, there will be a low-stimulation dinner at Restaurant De Peer.

Openings evening Accessibility Week

The Accessibility Week starts on 6 October, but the official opening evening is on Wednesday 8 October at Bloos. 
A festive evening with an opening by Councillor Jeroen Bruijns, performances by artists and information.

Accessible walks

Guides from Gilde de Baronie offer various tours through the centre of Breda for people with a physical disability. These are suitable for:

  • participants in a wheelchair
  • visually impaired and blind people
  • hearing impaired and deaf people
