Mother's Day in Breda

Sunday, 10 May 2026 is Mother's Day: the perfect day to celebrate and thank your mother, grandmother, stepmother, mother-in-law, or any other special woman in your life for everything she does! Looking for inspiration to treat her well?

    Start the day well

Celebrate Mother's Day in Breda properly and bring your mother for a delightful breakfast at one of the many breakfast hotspots in the city.
Omi in the St. Annastraat has curated a special Mother's Day brunch.

But also In Kannen en Kruiken is one of Breda's top spots for the tastiest coffees and healthy breakfasts. You can enjoy a cozy indoor seat or sit in the garden at the back.

At Sip First, on Sint Janstraat, they have a passion for a delicious cup of coffee, tea, and a lovely breakfast. They serve coffees from around the world, and you can enjoy the most delicious bowls or toast with scrambled eggs. Inside is pleasant to stay, but you can also sit outside in the charming street.

Hidden in the Nieuwstraat is Koffiebar Sowieso. They make and serve delicious, mainly vegan, breakfasts here, that's for sure. As the name suggests, they are experts in making the most delicious coffees. The secret lies in their freshly roasted coffee beans. There is a wide choice of breakfasts, all made exclusively with local products.

So there's something for everyone!

Discover each other's most creative side and take a workshop together. Especially for Mother’s Day, you can learn at Nieuwe Veste how to make a Lensu or Angisa, traditional headwraps. This workshop is part of the project Footsteps of Our Dutch Slave History.

The Green Submarine organizes a Kokedama Workshop on 13 May as part of Mother's Day.

Did you know that in Breda you can attend many more workshops? From ceramics painting to cooking and from salsa dancing to painting.

    End the day well

End the day with a nice drink. There are plenty of great drinking spots in Breda. ‘t Hart van Breda is also known among Bredenaars as one of the city's living rooms. Besides lunch and dinner, you can also enjoy a gezellig drink at this bar on the Grote Markt. Don’t forget to order the famous 't Hart nachos!
Transport yourself to French vibes at Bardot. Here, up to 50 different wines are served by the glass.
When the weather is nice, the terrace of De Suikerkist is the place to be. The menu features no less than 24 different gin-tonics and homemade white sangria. It's highly recommended to order the Deluxe snack platter as well.
