Chasing the sun in Breda

With this warm weather, you have two choices – either sit comfortably in the shade or opt to sit in the sunshine, naturally with a load of sunscreen. Even if you're going for a coffee in the morning, or perhaps during the lunch break in the afternoon, and... during that after-work drink after 5pm, it’s also quite nice to have the sun on your face. We chased the sun in Breda. Where do you sit in the sun in the morning? And in the afternoon, or perhaps just enjoy that lovely evening sun.

In the morning sunshine 10 – 12 hours

The morning sun is delightful to sit in. Not too warm, not too cold. UV levels are still fairly low, so this really is the moment to sit in the sun for a bit. In Breda, there are plenty of spots where you can enjoy sitting in the sunshine. Think of Oranje Zuid, where you can relax with Anne & Max, Chatwick, or Emily’s Healthy Bar. Another great spot is Clique, Teds Breda Botanique, or Kamu on Boschstraat.

    Afternoon 12 – 5 pm

In the afternoon there is also plenty to choose from. The city is a bit warmer at the moment, but if you sit quietly on a terrace, it’s really quite manageable. Drink in hand, a snack, and just people watching! Actually, you’ll always be well situated at the Grote Markt. All the restaurants on the east side are lovely in the sun. Many also have parasols to find some shade if needed.

But you can also enjoy the sunshine at the Kasteelplein, especially at Tapasbar Plan B. As well as at the V eemarktpleintje. Latour, Anne & Max and Veemarktplein are nice hotspots in Breda.

Also at the Havermarkt and the harbour, by the water in Breda, you’re well in the sun during the afternoon hours. Dok19 offers delicious, cooling beers on the menu, and at Markt28 you can brunch all day.

Evening sunset for your drinks or dinner 17 – until the sun goes down 😉

An evening without having a drink is almost an evening not lived in Breda. When the weather cools down a bit in the evening, it's lovely to head into the city for a while. At Baai, you can still find a nice sunny spot here and there, but you can also seek the shade. And the east side of the Grote Markt still enjoys good sunshine. That will disappear behind the other buildings in the city after a while.

At the  Van Coothplein, the sun doesn't shine in the evening. Here, you can sit comfortably on one of the various terraces and relax a bit. Definitely worth a visit! (And if not, then enjoy a lovely ice cream in the sun at Frezzo)
