Commemoration of Breda's liberation 2025
On 29 October 1944, World War II ended in Breda. The city was liberated by the 1st Polish Armoured Division under General Stanislaw Maczek. The liberation is commemorated annually.

Saturday 25 October 2025
- 14:30 hrs: Floral tribute at the memorial plaque on the Parade, near Botanique. This is dedicated to the soldiers of the 1st Polish Armoured Division in Breda. The floral tribute is organised in collaboration with the committee of the Polish parish in Breda and pastor Jozef Okonek.
- 19:00 hrs: Concert by the Polish Military Orchestra from Zagan in the Mariakerk, Mariaplein 1. Free entry.

- 09:00 hrs: Memorial service at Mariakerk, Mariaplein 1
- 11:00 hrs: Commemoration at the Polish Military Memorial Cemetery Ginneken, Vogelenzanglaan 19
- 13:00 hrs: Commemoration at the Polish Military Memorial Cemetery, Ettensebaan 17a
- 15:00 hrs: Reception for invited guests in the Vianden hall, Viandenlaan 5
You are requested to be present 10 minutes before the start of the various ceremonies.
Registration for flower tribute:
- Ettensebaan: by 23 October at the latest via stasine@ziggo.nl. If you register late or not at all, the flowers can be laid after the commemorations.
- Ginneken: Only those invited may lay flowers during the memorial service. Others can do so after the event.

- 19:00 hrs: Commemoration of war victims of Belcrum at the Belcrumhuis, Pastoor Pottersplein 12.
Every year, the war victims from Belcrum who fell during the Second World War are commemorated.
