Breda Mix Lidwien

A place full of history

My day begins at the imposing Castle of Breda. Once, this was the home of the Nassaus, and the place still breathes history. Nowadays, the Royal Military Academy is located here. Tip: during Open Monument Day, you can also visit the castle from the inside!

Peace in the Beguinage

In the hustle and bustle of the city, you'll find the peaceful Begijnhof (beguinage). The white houses, the herb garden, and the silence make this a special place where you can pause for a moment.

A Hidden City Garden

The Willem Merkxtuin is a hidden gem in the city centre. In this small quiet garden, greenery, art, and tranquility come together. Overlooking the tower of the Grote Kerk, this is the perfect spot for a break on a bench in the sun.

Discover the Grote Kerk

I discover The Grote Kerk Breda through an interactive tour. This allows you to learn more about the history, unique details, and stories of this iconic building. It makes a visit extra special and truly brings the history of Breda to life.

Unique shopping

In de Veemarktstraat you won't find standard shops, but unique specialty stores and concept shops. It is a street full of creativity where you will always discover something special.

Enjoy browsing

At De Vrije Boekhandel, I can browse endlessly. This unique bookstore is filled with books on art, culture, and literature. One of my favorite places!

Coffee, art, and design

Brandpunt is much more than a café. Here, coffee, art, and design come together. After a nice cup of coffee, I browse a bit more in the shop full of unique design items and creativity.

Sustainable enjoyment

Zeezicht is also a favourite stop. This sustainable hotspot is known for its focus on good products and a pleasant atmosphere. A place at the Grote Markt where you can settle down and enjoy.

Burgundian dining

For a good and surprising dinner, I like to go to De Kleine Wereld. Here, there's a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

A term in craft beer

Café de Beyerd has been a well-known name in Breda for almost 200 years. With an impressive selection of craft beers, this is the place for beer enthusiasts. Tip: ask for a tasting session.

Open-Air Museum

With a Blind Walls tour, I discover Breda as an open-air museum. Throughout the city, you'll find cool murals that tell stories from the past and present. Literally art on the street!

Film as a closing

The perfect way to end my day is at Chassé Cinema. In this modern cinema, part of the Chassé Theater, you can watch arthouse films and special productions. A relaxed and cultural way to wrap up the day!
