09:30 - The first photography exhibition is already waiting for you at Central Station

If you’re travelling to Breda by train, you can already take a look at one of the many photography exhibitions the city has to offer as soon as you’ve passed through the ticket barriers. The station features display cases containing the work of two young talents: Aline Papenheim and Yvela Jessica.

10:00 – Start your day right with a cinnamon bun from Echt Brood and a coffee from KAMU

Head into town! On Boschstraat, you’ll find some great spots to get your day off to a good start. Especially for BredaPhoto, bakery Echt Brood is baking a delicious cinnamon bun. Our tip is to grab a coffee to go from KAMU at the same time, opposite the bakery. At KAMU, you can also enjoy a very tasty lunch.

11:00 – Start your BredaPhoto adventure at the festival hub: Carré Chassé

After a good cup of coffee and a tasty breakfast, you’ll be all set to head out and discover BredaPhoto 2026 . We recommend starting at the heart of BredaPhoto festival: Carré Chassé! This is definitely the place to begin. Make sure you allow at least two hours for this, as there’s plenty to see. For example, take a look at the work of Çiğdem Yüksel, who tells the stories of various people from Breda through portrait photographs and a colourful wall tapestry. Or check out Puck Verkade’s impressive video installation, which is guaranteed to make for a great Instagram post.

12:30 - Discover the meaning of Carnival at the Stedelijk Museum

Visit the exhibition Parade by Vincen Beeckman at the Stedelijk Museum. Discover a special selection of works about the vulnerability of life and the resilience of people and communities. Together with Breda residents, Beeckman explored the meaning of Carnival. His photographs capture their stories and works of art, offering an insight into what Carnival means to Breda.

14:00 - Lunch for charity at the T-Huis

At the T-Huis in Valkenberg Park, you’re in the right place for a delicious lunch. Upon presentation of your BredaPhoto map, T-Huis will donate € 1.00 to the local food bank for every lunch dish ordered. This also applies to all dinner dishes. Located in the heart of the beautiful park, this restaurant offers the ideal setting to unwind.

15:30 - Discover the educational project at Nieuwe Veste

In collaboration with photographer Sandra Minten, students from Curio got to work with the camera. In the courtyard of Nieuwe Veste, you can see their fresh perspective on comfort and resilience. The six young people from Breda show how the next generation of photographers sees the world.

16:00 - Head to the City Gallery

In a dark Flemish barn near the Van Gogh House in Zundert, Annaleen Louwes created her new work on sorrow. Here, she examined what photography can still capture when there is barely any light. She gives spider webs, shadows and dust a presence of their own. The result, a study of darkness and introspection, can be seen in the City Gallery.

16:30 - Visit the Chassé Project Space

Since you’re already near the Chassé Theater, you can make one more stop at Projectruimte Chassé. Here you can watch Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine’s documentary, Memories of Love Returned. A hopeful story about how the power of photography can bring people together.

17:00 Admire the XXL square

Loyal visitors to BredaPhoto will surely remember the open-air exhibition on the Chassé Promenade and in the surrounding Chassépark from 2022 and earlier. A special location where you can admire large-scale photography in public spaces on the square.

17:30 Drinks at Café Cooth

After your visit to the Stadsgalerij, simply continue on to Café Cooth! This new spot in Breda is the perfect place to enjoy a drink and chat about your visit to BredaPhoto. Which exhibition or display did you find the most impressive or thought-provoking?

19:00 Dinner at Smelt or Bühne

Want to round off your day in a delicious way? Then Smelt is the place for you! Here, you can sit down to enjoy a special that changes with the seasons. In September, indulge in a delicious mussel pot. When it gets cooler in October, the mussel pot makes way for a Swiss cheese fondue.

Or visit one of Breda’s creative hotspots, Bühne. Inspired by BredaPhoto, they have created a dish called ‘Veerkracht’. Let yourself be surprised by the combination of sensational flavours that will add that little bit extra to your festival day.
