Start the route in Stadspark Valkenberg near the Willemsbrug. This park was part of Breda Castle until 1812 and was only accessible to castle residents and their guests. From here, they practised falconry. The small garden with the statue of Hercules, incidentally a replica, recalls the seventeenth century when the park was laid out in French/Italian style with no fewer than seventeen statues. Today, the park is a vibrant meeting place...also for geese.
