A young woman on the run stops running when she must uncover the truth from the ruins of war. Spitters, Emma van het verzet is a compelling, layered music theatre production based on the true story of Emma, a member of the Rotterdam resistance, and her husband Karel. When the war turns life upside down, the couple resists injustice and the looting of Jewish property. What follows is a brave and dangerous journey – even after liberation – to see justice prevail and ensure the victims’ voices are not silenced. Featuring compelling live music, powerful cabaret and a unique cast, Spitters is a painfully timely ode to the people who kept searching, even when the world fell silent. A powerful theatre experience about the choices made then and the lessons for today. The premiere will take place on Saturday 3 October at Podium Bloos, with an afternoon and evening performance.
