Open Day Zuylen
Information
Traditionally, the open day takes place in the autumn, but for this special anniversary, it is moved to the spring. A nice additional benefit: the park is then in top condition. Come inside and take a look around!
During the open day, the facilities of Zuylen are freely accessible. Meet the funeral directors in the farewell rooms or walk through the park. This year, the low cellar is open to visitors for the first time. Additionally, you have the chance to peek at the cremation ovens, the House of Farewell, or the mortuary.
There is plenty to do during the open day:
- Art project at the butterfly garden — Parents and children create a concrete butterfly print together.
- Carving a tree trunk — Children can, under supervision, carve the name of a loved one at a memorial site.
- Music and theatre — Featuring performances by, among others, harpist Mechteld Karlien de Jongh.
- Art route and biodiversity trail — Walk along art and nature in the park.
- Troost Radio — The mobile radio studio about comfort and connection is live on site.
Taste and experience
Local delicacies: some local bakers present snacks from our hospitality booklet to highlight local collaboration. Nowadays, a funeral offers so much more than serving guests a slice of cake.
Traveling exhibition
Tot Zover, the Amsterdam museum about life and death, is presenting an exhibition about food in the funeral sector over the years.
At Aula Brabant, various means of transportation and coffins are on display, including the electric hearses and the funeral bike. Additionally, there is a small market with stands from suppliers, such as urn makers, and the Zuylen information centre is present.
200 years of history
The open day kicks off the anniversary year. In various locations on the grounds, the history of Zuylen is made visible with old photographs and special historic graves. This creates a clear picture of the development over two centuries.
Even after 200 years, the ambition remains focused on providing a beautiful and warm farewell in every desired form.
