MEZZ x Pier15: Omar Souleyman

In 2024, the fifth studio album by one of the most prominent dabke artists in the world was released: Erbil. His musical journey began as a singer at weddings, where he built an impressive repertoire of nearly 500 live albums. That period came to an abrupt end with the outbreak of civil war in Syria, his homeland. He then settled in Turkey, where he released his first studio album Wenu Wenu in 2013, produced by Four Tet.

Since then, he has collaborated with influential names such as Gilles Peterson, Modeselektor, and Björk. His unique style and energetic performances have taken him to major international festivals like Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork Paris, and Roskilde, firmly establishing his status as a pioneer in the world and electronic music scene.
