In conversation with René van Stipriaan about Willem van Oranje
Information
Have you always wanted to ask a question about Willem van Oranje? Or are you curious about the motives behind his choices during the Dutch Revolt? On Friday 21 November, you'll have the chance to engage in conversation with historian and author René van Stipriaan, author of the highly acclaimed book The Silent One: The Life of Willem van Oranje (2021). For this work, he received both the Dutch Biography Prize and the Libris History Prize in 2022.
During this evening, Monique Rakhorst, Head of Collections and Curator of Stedelijk Museum Breda, will interview Van Stipriaan around three themes: Breda, Delft, and the Assassination. Together, they will unravel the motives of Willem van Oranje in a time of political and personal tensions.
Afterwards, there will be plenty of opportunity for the audience to ask questions about anything you've always wanted to know but perhaps never dared to ask.
