Stedelijk Museum Breda - Traces of our Dutch slavery past
At Stedelijk Museum Breda, discover in the exhibition Ambition and Desire the connection between the Breda Kwatta factory and slavery, as well as the emergence of the so-called Indorock.
Kwatta and Indo-rock
At Stedelijk Museum Breda, discover stories about the famous chocolate factory Kwatta and watch the documentary Sounds of Origin about the Dutch East Indies influence on pop music.
The gold-colored Kwatta chocolate tin in the collection tells a layered story about colonial history and cultural connection. The tin demonstrates the intertwined history of the Netherlands with both Suriname and Indonesia, two former colonies whose histories continue to influence contemporary culture.
