King Willem-Alexander tree - Green Camino location

On the occasion of the coronation of King Willem-Alexander, a summer oak was planted at the head of the Markdal. The oak was donated by all Breda nature associations.

The place where the tree stands, at the beginning of the Markdal, originally belonged to the Bouvigne estate, the hunting domain of the Orange-Nassaus. Planting this tree establishes a natural connection with Breda Nassaustad.
The bench around the oak is made from Breda wood from trees felled by the municipality. In the field beside the bench lies a meadow bordered by a wattle hedge. Wattle hedges have defined the landscape in the valley for centuries.

Groene Camino
This location is part of the Groene Camino, a nature and cultural-historical walk through Breda. The walk is 26 km long and runs from the Heilige Eik in Den Hout through the centre of Breda to the Sint Jacobskapel in Galder.
