Catharinastraat
Huys Snellen is located in Catharinastraat. This street is one of the oldest in Breda. It was established in the 14th century, and in the 16th century, more mansion houses appeared along the street. The castle is just a stone's throw away from here. The mansion houses were initially used as residences for senior officials of the royal family, the Oranje-Nassaus, who have their roots in Breda. 

Huys 'Snellen'
The city villa is named after its former residents, Paulus and Willem Snellen. They were both aldermen and mayors of Breda. All this history is still visible in the art and character of the villa.
