Hirdesbrug - Groene Camino location

The Hirdesbrug is a concrete bridge from the early 1900s.

Manufacturer L.A. Hirdes had the bridge built to improve the accessibility of his factory for pedestrians and cyclists. The railings are made of reinforced concrete and also serve as main girders supporting the floor slabs.

The municipality required the Mark to remain navigable. Hence the arch shape. Just before the bridge, the river de Mark flows into the Singel around Breda.

Groene Camino
This location is part of the Groene Camino, a nature and cultural-historical walk through Breda. The walk is 26 km long and runs from the Heilige Eik in Den Hout through the centre of Breda to the Sint Jacobskapel in Galder.
