De Troubadour
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary, the Hero gifted this statue of the Troubadour to the Orange cities of Orange (F), Dillenburg (D), Breda, and Diest (B). The bronze municipal coats of arms of these four cities are located on the pedestal. The statue was created by Annemieke Post.
Troubadours undoubtedly sang their songs here in the Middle Ages as inns had already existed on the Havermarkt centuries ago. On the anniversary day, 2 July 1964, the statue was unveiled. Due to casting issues, the Breda example was subsequently offered to Orange. It wasn't until 1966 that the Breda Troubadour was installed.
