Yorick van Norden in MEZZ

For Yorick van Norden, a childhood dream came true: recording an album at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The result is Do It Now, a record that was completed in just four days. Together with his band, Van Norden recorded fourteen tracks in Studio 2, the space where iconic recordings by The Beatles and Pink Floyd took place. He even played on the piano heard in A Day In The Life and experimented with Pink Floyd's celesta.

About that experience he says:
"When I hear the album, I’m right back there: in that huge studio with the famous staircase and elevated control room, experiencing my boyhood dream. No one can ever take that away from us again." 

The first single from the album, The Keepers Of The Gates, has now been released. The song is about the disappearance of traditional gatekeepers in the music industry. Where once tastemakers guided listeners through the vast options, increasingly algorithms now determine what we hear. According to Van Norden, this is "an extremely concerning, broader global societal trend."
