Workshop | Dry Needle Etching at RAAF
Discover the dry needle technique during an inspiring workshop at RAAF.
Information
In the drypoint technique, a fine steel needle is used to scratch a design into a plastic plate. The lines created during printing have a soft appearance, characteristic of this technique. This form of intaglio printing was widely used in printmaking, also by old masters such as Rembrandt van Rijn.
In the morning, the focus is on making drawings and scratching into the plate. In the afternoon, the drawings are printed using the etching press. At the end of the day, each participant goes home with their own prints, or can enjoy a little more of the city.
