Will Knox in MEZZ

He is inspired by the storytelling of icons such as Leonard Cohen & Paul Simon. But influences from Elliott Smith and Nick Drake are also present in his songs, which often have a melancholic and hopeful tone. 

In his more recent work, Will Knox references the contemporary sounds of artists like Fink and The National. His new album ‘Trouble Times’, to be released on 20 February 2026, is written not only from his heart but also with passion. In addition to emotionally charged lyrics, Knox now adds a sharp focus and protest. The result is his most urgent and unapologetically human record to date. A special feature of the album is that it was made entirely analogue. This makes the sound more flowing, softer, and genuine.

The album is full of current topics; global unrest, inner doubt, and love. Yet, the album is not gloomy. The British artist from Haarlem is a talented songwriter and has contributed to Duncan Laurence’s winning Eurovision song ‘Arcade’, and has collaborated with Son Mieux and Dotan. His collaborations have garnered him over 2 billion streams, as well as five Buma Awards and an Edison Award for Noémi’s album ‘Somebody’s Daughter’.
