Welcome to the forest where there’s almost always someone having a birthday! A forest full of cakes, letters, presents, music, very large and tiny parties. Mijntje Pronk and Judith Westbroek step into the shoes of various animals from the stories of Toon Tellegen. Squirrel, pike, bear, and ant; they all make an appearance.

The animals form initial friendships and wonder what it means to ‘miss’ and ‘touch’. Sometimes they feel sad, and other times very happy. With humor and lots of playful fun, Mijntje and Judith switch from one animal birthday to another. Who is allowed to come to your party? What kind of present will you bring? Will it be a gezellig (cozy/fun) gathering? Imagination is central to this performance and is infectious in its creation by the performers. The familiar situations of all the animals in the forest seamlessly connect to the experiences of preschool children and their parents.

Who is celebrating their birthday today? is a musical theatre party for both young and old, full of original songs that you will be singing long after. For everyone who has ever had a birthday or plans to have one someday.
