Walloon Church x MEZZ: Daniël Tomàs

Pianist and composer Daniël Tomàs creates a blend of (neo)classical compositions, improvisations, and electronic sounds. He describes his style as ‘New Romanticism’. In his work, he explores how music can connect us with ourselves and with the world around us.

Daniël grew up with a deep fascination for nature, which inspired his new project ‘Ecopathy’. In this album, he explores how we have forgotten how to listen. Sounds that were commonplace for our grandparents have now been replaced by normalized, constant noise.

He combines piano, electronics, and manipulated sound recordings into a musical time machine that confronts us with what has been lost.

Aside from his solo work, Daniël Thomàs collaborates with various artists, including Edison winner Loek van den Berg. Together, they released the album ‘Duologue’. He also performed with his Doppler Trio at major jazz festivals in the Netherlands.
