Wad: Survival at the Water and Land Border + Q&A with the director

Filmhuis Breda shows the documentary Wad on 26 October. A breathtaking tribute to the Wadden Sea area, highlighting the vulnerability and richness of this unique ecosystem.

Information

During the Breda Month of History, Filmhuis Breda will screen an impressive native nature film every Sunday within the theme ‘Natuurlijk’. On Sunday 26 October, Wad is on the programme, a visually stunning documentary about the unique ecosystem of the Wadden Sea.

The film shows how special and vulnerable this natural area is on a global scale. From microscopic diatoms and shellfish to iconic species such as the peregrine falcon and the grey seal: Wad depicts the entire food chain like never before.

After the screening, there will be a Q&A with director Ruben Smit. As an ecologist and nature filmmaker, he made his debut in 2013 with De Nieuwe Wildernis, together with Mark Verkerk. His passion for the Dutch landscape and his eye for detail make Wad an engaging experience.

Tip: finish the evening on a tasty note and reserve a table at one of the participating restaurants. Specially for the Beetroot Campaign, a surprising beetroot menu will be served, a culinary nod to the nature beneath the surface.
