Information

UNDER YOUR EYE: an immersive theatre experience about freedom and the systems that shape us In a time when freedom is increasingly under pressure and individualisation seems to be the norm, a compelling question arises: how free are we really?

With the immersive theatre concept UNDER YOUR EYE, creators' collective LEENSTRA & WIRKEN invites the audience not only to reflect on this question but especially to experience it in a series of performances starting from 28 March at culture-production house De Ruimte in Breda.

An experiential capsule of codes and confrontation UNDER YOUR EYE puts visitors right in the middle of a carefully created system of alienation and rules where the audience is not a spectator but an active link confronted with themselves and others. An evening that disrupts, connects, and deepens. The performance takes place at De Ruimte, a hidden gem in Breda, where visitors do not enter an anonymous theatre hall but a setting that invites interaction.

Before and after, biological vegetarian snack bites are served by the De Ruimte kitchen team. During the shared meal, there is space for dialogue and meaning-making.

About the creators

The creative duo LEENSTRA&WIRKEN operates at the intersection of performance, theatre, and social design. Their work can be described as an intimate 'happening' in which the audience meets each other in a shared universe that unsettles and activates. Through the shift from spectator to participant, the audience has the opportunity to internalise the experience and assign it a personal meaning.

In 2025, they were invited for a residency at De Ruimte, received their first Creative Makers subsidy from Breda municipality, and successfully crowdfunded for UNDER YOUR EYE.

28 March is sold out, and last tickets are available for 29 March.

Ticket sales for 30 and 31 May + 4 and 5 July start from mid-April.
