The Unseen offers an intense insight into the lives of African migrants in southern Italy and exposes the structures they encounter: from exploitation in the agricultural sector to bureaucratic uncertainty and social exclusion.&nbsp;The film demonstrates how personal stories are closely intertwined with the systems shaping their daily lives. Milou Rientjens from Breda combines her background in International Development Studies with a passion for vulnerable communities.&nbsp;She researched the exploitation of African migrant workers in Italy, which led to her debut documentary The Unseen. Besides her role as a team leader at Refugee Work, she is co-founder of the Nuru Foundation Tanzania.
