The power of participative work in the arts

Discover Breda during KOPcafé and experience participatory art, meet young creators, and take part in this unique community art experience.

Information

What happens when you create art *with* each other, instead of *for* each other? During this edition of KOPcafé, participatory work is central. An art form that is not about the final result, but about process, encounter, and mutual influence.

In the living room at Buddy to Buddy, six young creators share their journey within the project We OK!, a collaboration with Stedelijk Museum Breda, Grote Broer Grote Zus, and KOP.

The past - and upcoming - weeks see the artists working in various districts of Breda with young people from Grote Broer Grote Zus.

David Bade, a renowned artist, is taking his younger colleagues in practice at the request of the museum. He delivers a lecture on his vision of community art. Based on his many years of experience, he shows what it takes – and yields – to truly make art together.

Participating artists:
  • Bas Steens
  • Bobbi Cleij
  • Daan van Bommel
  • Floor Snels
  • Jan Janssens
  • Studio Bomba

The artists each give a short presentation, in a form that suits their work – think poetry, interaction, image, or performance. Not traditional lectures, but personal stories and engaging forms of encounter!

Extra special: David Bade is also curator of Bosch Parade 2026. During the evening, the young artists supported by KOP for Bosch Parade 2026 will also be present, where participation again plays a key role. Come listen, watch, participate, and think along. Because at KOP, art is never alone.
