The image of the woman as a ‘fighter’
Information
‘Being combative’ can take many forms. It’s not just about picking up weapons. Fighting can happen in various roles and in many places. During this evening, the image of women as fighters is central, and different perspectives will be presented. Also, attention is given to what happens when women consciously take up space and claim their place.
The world is not only made up of women; finding a place also involves how you relate to others and how others relate to you. This social aspect will also be addressed this evening. In line with the motto of the 1st Polish Armoured Division under General Stanislaw Maczek: “For your freedom and ours”
The evening will be introduced by Jolanda Bosch and Kim Bootsma. Kim Bootsma provides a historical insight into the integration of women into the Dutch armed forces. Jolanda Bosch discusses the concept of masculinity within the military, which confronts both women and men. She also broadens this topic to Dutch society as a whole. The introduction will be followed by a dialogue on the theme, allowing contributions from all attendees. The evening will conclude with a friendly gathering so we can get to know each other better and chat afterwards.
