Sunset Cinema: The Radiant Child @Stadspark 't Zoet

The successful outdoor cinema in Breda is back. This summer, Sunset Cinema is transforming ten special locations into open-air cinemas once again. On Friday, August 22nd, you can settle in at the former site of the CSM Sugar Factory, which is now arranged as Stadspark ’t Zoet, next to the Central Station. Here you will see the intimate documentary Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child.

Director Tamra Davis pays tribute to her late friend with this film, highlighting his status as an artist and certainly as an iconoclast. The charismatic artist Basquiat broke through with his concise, bebop-influenced art in a world dominated by minimalism.

As a successful black artist, he faced a lot of racism and misunderstanding. Never-before-seen archive footage and interviews with Basquiat and his remarkable circle of friends alternate throughout a portrait that moves and inspires.
