In response to the death of Russian opposition leader Navalny, Sunset Cinema is showing this film again.&nbsp;In August 2020, a plane flying from Siberia to Moscow made an emergency landing. One of the passengers, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was very ill. He was taken to a local hospital and eventually evacuated to Berlin, where doctors confirmed he had been poisoned with Novichok, a nerve agent previously involved in attacks on other opponents of the Russian government.President Vladimir Putin denied any involvement. Navalny not only survived the poisoning but once he had somewhat recovered, he went on the counter-attack. Together with a very persistent Bellingcat investigator, various news outlets and his own team, Navalny sought evidence of the Kremlin's involvement. His decision to return to Russia after the nail-biting search that followed is incredible and impressive.Director Daniel Roher and his camera team were in the right place at the right time. They were there as Navalny recovered with his wife and daughter in Germany, capturing him at his most vulnerable and yet most serene moment. The film provides intimate moments with this extraordinary and persistent family. Navalny provides insight into the mind of the courageous and charismatic opposition leader.In response to the death of Alexei Navalny earlier this year, we are showing this documentary again.The Maczek Memorial Breda aims, on the one hand, to perpetually honour the Polish Liberators for the sacrifices made at that time. On the other hand, they want to raise awareness that freedom is not to be taken for granted. That is why this special place was chosen to screen the fourth film in the Sunset Cinema series.
