Sparkling gold - Cappella Breda celebrates 50 years
Information
Under the inspiring direction of conductor Elisabeth Blom, the choir presents a programme bursting with energy, expression, and regal allure. A celebration that connects past, present, and future.
Programma
The central highlight is the impressive Dixit Dominus, a youth work that still remains one of the most spectacular compositions in the baroque repertoire. Fiery fugues, enthralling rhythms, and virtuosic solo passages follow one after another at a rapid pace. This music is intense and sparkling, full of dramatic contrasts and emotional depth—a true tour de force for choir and musicians, and an overwhelming experience for the audience.
Additionally, the majestic coronation anthem Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened, composed for the coronation of George II in the monumental Westminster Abbey, will be performed. Here, Handel demonstrates mastery of festive grandeur: radiant choral passages, powerful orchestral sounds, and solemn moments of reflection create an atmosphere of listening and brilliance.
Accademia Amsterdam
For this special occasion, Cappella Breda is accompanied by the refined baroque orchestra Accademia Amsterdam, which makes the music sparkle on historical instruments in all its colour, vitality, and authenticity.
