S.A.M.

S.A.M. (Stop Annoying Me) is a poignant journey through the thoughts and feelings of 16-year-old Sam, who feels out of place in this world. Film, music, and theatre come together in an immersive, multidisciplinary performance about depression and rediscovering your own identity in a world that feels hostile.

Information

S.A.M. is an impressive music theatre performance about growing up, identity, and the past. The show is a collaboration between composer Dyane Donck and mezzo-soprano Els Mondelaers as co-creators, with Sjaron Minailo as director, and was produced in coproduction with Cello Octet Amsterdam.  On stage, the 16-year-old Sam and her adult self meet. When memories from her youth resurface, Sam is once again confronted with feelings of loneliness, uncertainty, and self-hatred.

With live music, film, and a mix of electronic pop, contemporary classical, and atmospheric soundscapes, S.A.M. takes you on an emotional journey of self-discovery. A special performance about how the past shapes us and how you learn to embrace who you are.
