Rootsriders celebrates 50 years of LIVE Bob Marley.

Rootsriders dive into their personal favourite Marley songs. A tribute to Bob Marley’s live album from 1975 featuring the iconic version of No Woman No Cry. The authoritative American magazine Rolling Stone ranked the song at number 37 in their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time in 2004. Thanks in part to the success of No Woman No Cry, over 1 million copies of the album were sold worldwide (with 100,000 in NL alone), unprecedented figures for a reggae band at that time.

Additionally, Rootsriders explore their personal favourite Marley songs on this tour. Rootsriders was originally founded in memory of Bob Marley’s 25th anniversary of his passing and has grown over the years to become a mainstay in the Dutch live circuit. Singers Giovanca Ostiana and Shirma Rouse, as well as former The Voice runner-up Mitchell Brunings, whose blind audition of – of course – a Marley song went viral worldwide, are notable former members.

Current singer Mo Ali was found via social media in Sudan, as is common these days. The band reached the final of the SBS6 programme ‘The Tribute, Battle of the Bands’ in 2022. As a reward, the band performed that year in a sold-out Ziggo Dome, alongside the 3 other finalists from the show.
