Experience the groundbreaking journey Rise of the Rainbow during the Be Proud Weekend! In a unique way, touching stories of love, courage, and struggle within the Dutch and international LHBTQIA+ community are brought to life. Rise of the Rainbow takes you on a multimedia voyage through the past, present, and future, vividly recreating both the high and low points of queer history.

The story of Rise of the Rainbow is told through an innovative combination of life-sized sets, augmented reality, spatial audio, and live theatre. During the experience, you step onto the stage yourself and move through a colourful, abstract city of enormous inflatable objects in rainbow colours.

Using an AR headset, you are guided through personal stories and significant events such as the first Pride protests in the sixties, the suffering and loss during the AIDS crisis, and the voices of contemporary activists advocating for the rights of trans and intersex people worldwide. 

In small groups, you are accompanied by performers from the LHBTQIA+ community. Through art forms such as dance, poetry, and music, social themes like freedom, desire, activism, and friendship are explored. The experience culminates in a collective finale where the present and the past converge, challenging you to reflect on your own place and role in this story.
