Remember the Nakba

Commemoration of the Nakba, an evening of stories, culture, and dialogue.

Information

On Thursday, 16 May, Pier15 in collaboration with Breda Solidair and Spotlight Team will host a special remembrance evening around the 'Nakba', Arabic for ‘catastrophe’.

This term refers to the period between 1947 and 1949, during which more than 700,000 Palestinians were forced from their homes and over 500 villages were destroyed. A tragedy whose repercussions are still felt today.

The Nakba is not a closed chapter. The effects are still visible and relevant today. That is precisely why we want to create space for stories that rarely receive the spotlight. Art, music and Palestinian cuisine come together in a programme that invites connection and understanding.

During the evening, there will be a live discussion with residents of Gaza, offering a direct and intimate insight into current daily life there. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free. You are warmly invited to come, listen, learn and participate in a conversation that is more relevant today than ever.
