Pete Rock broke through in the early nineties as part of the legendary duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Since then, his name has been inextricably linked to the iconic boom bap sound, and he has become one of the most influential producers in hip hop history. Alongside giants such as DJ Premier, RZA and Q-Tip, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of East Coast hip hop.

Amxxr, also known as Peace Beloved, was the first artist to sign with Pete Rock’s label Tru Soul Records. His first mixtape 21 Grams: Worth Its Weight In Soul and the album Dope Boy Soul were both produced by Pete Rock. Pete Rock describes their collaboration as “a marriage between his beats and Amxxr’s words.”
