Paint along the mural Voices in Type

Create a powerful statement together with others about freedom and representation with a mural inspired by Anton de Kom.

Information

Anton de Kom (1898–1945) was a Surinamese writer, resistance fighter and anti-colonial activist. His work and ideas are still relevant today, but not everyone in the Netherlands is familiar with him. With a mural as part of the project CHARACTERS: Voices in Type, you make a statement about freedom, inspired by De Kom – visible, tangible and carried by young people and involved residents.

The mural will be created on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 October between 10:00 and 17:00. Not an ordinary painting job, but a collective expression of resistance, representation and pride. Young people, students, local residents, designers AND you are sought to help paint this urgent message.

Assist other participants and become part of a collective artwork that makes forgotten voices visible.
