About Oosterheide Estate
This is a former heathland area between Oosterhout and Breda. At the end of the 19th century, it was planted with woodland. Seventy different tree species were used in its creation, making it feel as though you are walking through a park. The owner wanted to emphasise this at the time.

In the 18th century, it served as a military site, where the three small hills acted as a bullet catcher, also known as Kalbergen, which was later corrupted to Kalix Berna. You will find amphibian ponds and fields growing ‘forgotten’ crops.
