Nature walk Aa of Weerijs and Trippelenberg - Gilde De Baronie

This walk from Gilde De Baronie takes you along the picturesque meandering Aa or Weerijs, a stream that originates in Belgium and flows into the Breda Singel. In 2005, the stream valley was redesigned to prevent water nuisance in the city. Since then, the river has flowed in graceful bends through a widened bed.

Along the way, you pass through the Trippelenberg, an area with a long history of settlement. In the Middle Ages, the castle ‘Ten Houte’ stood here, near the current Prinsenhoef. Later, this was the site of the Breda Hippique event.

The landscape is characterized by stately avenues and beautiful sand paths. During the walk, you will often stop to admire the special features of this historically and naturally valuable area.
