Nassau Lecture: Paul Rem on Anna Paulowna

Paul Rem talks about Anna Paulowna, the first visible queen consort of the Netherlands.

Information

Anna Paulowna, born Grand Duchess of Russia, was the first visible queen consort of the Netherlands. When she married the future King Willem II (1816), the Kingdom of the Netherlands was still a young nation. She had a great sense of royal decorum and brought brilliance and glory to the modest Oranjehof.

Paul Rem tells the story of a remarkable sovereign who, during her lifetime, made a overwhelming impression on everyone and who still partly lives on in unexpected aspects in our time.
