In 2018, MEROL (Merel Baldé) launched herself into the pop music scene with the hit single *Lekker Met De Meiden*. Since then, she has been unstoppable. During Be Proud Weekend, MEROL will perform at the Chassé Theatre for the first time to shake up Breda with this energetic show full of club bangers, fun, imagination, and vulnerability.
 
With her bold, outspoken, and direct Dutch-language electropop, MEROL expertly captures the spirit of the times. She sings about sex, feminism, and everything in between, wrapped in irresistibly catchy synthpop. Her mischievous and sharp lyrics stir discussion in both the Netherlands and Belgium. Since her breakthrough, she has filled large club venues and performed at festivals such as Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Best Kept Secret, and Rock Werchter. Her energetic live shows and iconic hits like *Hou Je Bek* and *Bef Me* (winner of the 3voor12/3FM Song of the Year Award) have attracted full audiences and a loyal fanbase. On her latest album *Naar de Haaien &amp; Weer Terug*, she explores her self-image and tendency towards self-destructiveness — which has been received with praise. In 2025, MEROL fulfilled a long-cherished dream by releasing her own musical film *Diep in de Nacht*.
