Meral Polat in MEZZ

Meral Polat blends the Kurdish soul with the raw energy and emotion of the blues. Together with three virtuoso musicians, she creates hypnotic soundscapes that take the audience on an emotional musical journey.

Her debut album Ez Kî Me offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional Anatolian music: sometimes a battle cry, sometimes a tender call for identity and connectedness. The album was nominated for both the Songlines Music Award and the UPBEAT Best New Talent Award 2024.

With her new album Meydan and a fresh line-up, Polat presents a quartet program where different eras and cultures come together without losing the modern sound. 

The program gives a powerful voice to women who choose their own path and celebrates female strength. Musically, it sounds richer in rhythm, groove and rock-'n'-roll, with an energetic charge. At the same time, it tells stories of resistance, struggle and solidarity in the ongoing fight for women's rights.
