Marché Hoezee - pop-up - Japanese style

Discover the Japanese atmosphere in Breda on 22 June at Marché Hoezee. A market full of workshops, treats, and vibrant Japanese art and culture.

Information

Hello! Will you come by the special JAPAN edition of Marché Hoezee on 22 June between 12 and 6 pm? Close your eyes, taste, experience and enjoy.

You will feel like you are in Japan, or at least heading quite a bit in that direction, and all without spending 14 hours on a plane… Marché Hoezee is connecting with the Japan Festival at Stadspark 't Zoet in Breda. The festival starts on Saturday, but if you come on Sunday, Hoezee will be there too! There will be plenty of delicious treats to taste, including from K.O.I. KANPAI, the initiator of the festival.

In the land of the rising sun called 't Zoet, Marché Hoezee plants its chopsticks and homemade decorations into the ground for a Japanese-style pop-up edition. ICHIBA is the Japanese word for market, and that is exactly what they will showcase. But not just any. No, a small but delightful version with lots to discover! Because creating together is even more fun than alone!

HOEZEE HEART KAWAII
Kawaii roughly means cute in Japanese. Cheerful prints, beautiful cards, funny characters, manga heroes, risograph prints; you will definitely encounter these!

All participants have some connection to Japan in one way or another. For example, Eva’s Apples found a whole bunch of quirky kokeshi dolls, irresistible vintage items, and kimonos on her recent trip to Japan. Gerda Huijssen ceramics is constantly inspired by Japan as a ceramic land, and Annemarie from Kintsugi atelier has been so moved by the art of gold-lacing that she will soon open her own shop in Breda.

Each participant has at least one product clearly influenced by Japan or originating from Japan, and that item will be presented in a special way at this market.

WORKSHOPS
You can join one of the Japanese-themed workshops!

Kintsugi with Annemarie
Annemarie from the Kintsugi atelier in Breda could not be absent from this Japan edition. She offers workshops in the modern variation of the centuries-old Japanese art form kintsugi, which adds extra value to broken porcelain by repairing it with a golden seam.

She also sells packages at her stall to help you make your broken ceramics even more beautiful and stronger at home. 2-3 pm and 4-5 pm (bring an object with up to five shards or buy a broken heart.)

Diorama with Julie The paper doll queen of Breda.

Image de Julie takes you into her wonderful world. Under her creative supervision, you are invited to assemble your own magical world into a paper diorama and continue to enjoy the fun of creating at home. 1-2 pm and 3-4 pm

Magic Ink with Soichiro (JP)
Soichiro Mihara is an artist from Japan living and working as Artist in Residence at the Van Gogh House in Zundert during June. He provides a special ink experience!
