Lievense Live: Charlie & the Welfare

Charlie & The Welfare hails from Breda in Noord Brabant and was founded in 2005. The band consists of highly driven musicians, each of whom has gained experience in both domestic and international bands. With their distinctive blend of rock, Rhythm & blues, country, and soul, they have released two albums. These feature songs all written by Hans Vermeeren, the founder and guitarist/vocalist of the band. The influence of artists such as SRV; John Hiatt, and John Fogerty is evident in several tracks. The guitar work and vocals of Hans Vermeeren, combined with Frans Vriens’ Hammond sound, create an infectious sound. The band members have been active in music for many years, making them well known to the regulars at cafes in Breda. Admission is free.
