Information

About Luce Irigaray
Luce Irigaray (1930, Blaton, Belgium) is one of the most influential feminist philosophers of the 20th and 21st centuries. In her work, she demonstrated how strongly Western culture has been shaped by male thinking. According to her, women are often pushed into the background. She therefore encourages women to develop their own voice and identity, separate from old patterns and expectations.

Her ideas have influenced philosophy, psychology, language, and ethics. She has also received much criticism, but her work remains important in discussions about equality, identity, and emancipation.

Dr. Lucy Roodbol will give this lecture. She is a philosopher and completed her degree on Irigaray's work. During the event, she will explain in an accessible way who Irigaray is, what her thinking is about, and why it is still relevant today.
